Educate and Enlighten

The Bear River Massacre was the single largest mass killing of Indians in U.S. history. It was a culmination of the disruption of the Shoshone’s way of life and the pioneer settlers who colonized the land and a lack of understanding between these two cultures

Shoshone Culture

The Shoshone refer to themselves as the Newe, the people. Traditionally the Shoshone lived in extended tribal groups and moved with the seasons throughout Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada.

Restore Natural Resources

The center will redevelop the area to bring back the natural habitat as close as possible to when the Shoshone lived and prior to the pioneer farming practices that led to a loss of precious food sources of the native people.
